Alternative ways to Cleaning Cloth Diapers

There are so many ways to clean your diapers, and different water types, I am going to touch on just a few of the things that I get most calls about. Stink and too many bubbles. (if you want the basics, go to the How to Wash Cloth Diaper post)

So let’s start with why you still have stinky diapers after you just washed them.

  1. Your water is too hard, so add a tsp more of Beyond Clean.

  2. Your water is too soft, only use 1 tsp instead of a Tbsp.

  3. You need to rinse your diapers out so the “baby output” is mostly removed before you wash.

  4. You may be using too much Beyond Clean.

  5. You should do a prewash cycle and let soak for 30 minutes (test with and without detergent)

  6. You may want to try this method: 1st wash- no detergent. Warm water. Soak 30min - 1hr. Normal cycle. Deep rinse+Extra rinse.

2nd wash- 1/2 tsp UBC. Hot water. No Soak. Heavy cycle. Deep rinse+Extra rinse. White vinegar in the rinse aid cup.

  7. An extra rinse is always beneficial, on the last cycle of washing.

  8. When all else fails, Clean out your washing machine

So what about too many bubbles?

  1. Your using too much detergent. Remember a little goes a long way.

  2. You may have build up and the Beyond Clean will take a few washing before your old detergent is fully rinsed out. (this also goes for stinky diapers)

  3. Beyond Clean is formulated to rinse out clean, so if you do a swish test and get a few bubbles, that soon go away, that is OKAY and totally normal. I promise.
